How long have you been a teacher? This is my 7th year in education!
How long have you been at your current school and what grade do you teach? This is my second year at Waterway Elementary in 5th grade.
What led you into teaching and what continues to motivate you? I started as a substitute teacher, and then an after-school teacher helping students with their work. I decided I wanted my own classroom after being able to help students get their “aha” moment when they understood a concept I helped explain. I wanted to be able to give an entire class their “aha” moments.
What was your reaction to winning the award? I was shocked to be voted for and honored to be thought of.
What was the reaction of your class? My class was SO excited I think they might have been heard from the moon. They are all planning to meet up together!
Have you been to Sky Zone before? If so, what was your experience like? I have never been to Sky Zone and can’t wait to go!
What do you find most rewarding about being a teacher? I love having the chance to be a positive influence and help make a difference in each student’s life.
Outside of the classroom, what are some of your interests? I love to read, shop, go to the beach, and find events to go to over the weekend!
